Apple is known to have a three-year redesign habit, and the iPhone 15 marks an important change in that cycle. As the company launched its newest TELUS smartphone line, users and testers can now witness how different the new iPhone is from its predecessors regarding look and feel.

The new iPhone model does not only have a different look and feel, but it also boasts several significant upgrades as well, which can be found mostly on the Pro versions. So, what is so special about the iPhone’s newest features? How can they be useful for users?

Let’s find out what the new iPhone 15 is all about in the sections below!

The Models

For the iPhone 15, the Cupertino-based company, makes four different phone versions, with the most advanced one being the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Users also have the opportunity to get one of the Pro, Plus, or the iPhone 15 versions. These are available from TELUS starting from $0 Upfront for Personal, TELUS EPP and Business customers.

The Cameras

All the iPhone 15 versions have received significant camera upgrades from Apple. The iPhone 15 and the Plus versions, for example, now have 48 megapixels on their main camera. This, obviously, is a significant upgrade since the main camera of previous iPhone models only has 12 megapixels.

Besides having more megapixels, the new main camera also has two times the optical zoom quality. This is made possible because Apple cropped the middle 12 megapixels from the 48-megapixel camera sensor, allowing users to get much better picture results.

By default, even if they have a 48-megapixel sensor, the iPhone 15 and Plus versions take 24-megapixel photos. Apple says that this allows users to get extra clarity from the pictures they take. Also, the company believes that doing so provides users with a “practical file size.”

Similar to the iPhone 15 and Plus versions, the Pro and Pro Max versions also come with a 48-megapixel main camera. However, instead of taking 24-megapixel photos, their main camera takes 48-megapixel ones by default.

In addition to the bigger picture size, the Pro and Pro Max also have different focal lengths in their preset options, which range from 24mm to 28mm to 35mm on the Pro version. For the Pro Max version, the vocal length can go up to 120mm.

The Pro and Pro Max versions also have different zooming abilities. The first one has a 3x zoom lens and the latter has a 5x zoom lens. And, it is rumoured that Apple plans to add a spatial video recording ability to the Pro and Pro Max versions in late 2023.

The spatial video recording ability makes use of the main and ultrawide cameras, and they should be used in tandem with the Apple Vision Pro headset. The headset itself is set to be released in 2024, according to Apple SVP Greg Joswiak.

The Display

With an upgraded display that can reach up to a 2000 nits brightness level, the new iPhone 15 offers a comforting display for its users. Compared to the previous iPhone generation, which can only reach a 1200 nits brightness level, the iPhone 15 display is more comfortable to look at.

All iPhone 15 versions come with a Super Retina XDR OLED display. The iPhone 15 and pro versions have a 6.1-inch screen size, while the Plus and Pro Max versions have a 6.7-inch screen size. In terms of refresh rate, the iPhone 15 and Plus versions have 60 Hz, and other versions have 120 Hz.

Aside from the higher screen refresh rate, the Pro and Pro Max versions also have ProMotion technology. This feature will adapt the display to your needs. There is also an always-on display on these iPhone 15 versions, which will let you check essential information with ease.

Design and Colors

The next thing you can notice from the iPhone 15 is its sleek and modern design. It has soft, contoured edges and a titanium frame that enhances its strength and makes the device lighter. Also, there are thinner screen bezels that make it more appealing.

On the back side, the iPhone 15 uses a glass panel with a matte texture. Users also have a variety of colours to choose from, which include some chich options like blue, yellow, and pink. Obviously, the traditional black is still there.

Another adjustment that Apple has made to the iPhone 15’s design aspect is the presence of a USB-C port. The thing is, different version has different data transfer speed. The Pro and Pro Max versions have a transfer speed of up to 10 Gb/s, while the rest can only go up to 480 Mbps.

Overall Performance and User Experience

The iPhone 15 and Plus versions run on the six-core A16 bionic processor. This is the one used by the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, and it tells us that the iPhone 15 and Plus will run as smoothly as those said models and have similar features just like them.

The Pro and Pro Max versions, on the other hand, run on the A17 Pro processor. This processor allows for hardware-accelerated ray tracing, which means you can enjoy realistic lighting effects, making the gameplay experience more immersive.

The dynamic island is available in all versions. Also, there is a new customizable Action Button, which is a versatile tool that lets you access a wide range of features. Don’t worry, the original ring/silent switch is still there and it remains in its original form.

The Verdict: To Buy or Not To Buy?

When you compare the new iPhone 15 to its predecessors, the TELUS phone offers users a wide range of useful features that can be beneficial in their lives. If you have an older iPhone and you think that you need an upgrade, then this one can be a great option!
